Racing and flying in the same rig?

Racing and flying in the same rig?

As a sim-racer, it is very likely that at some point in your hobby, you've experienced some desire to start flying planes, instead of racing cars. It might have been because of sim-racing "burnout," maybe you like planes, or maybe you just want to relax at the end of a long workday and not have to worry about other people and their heroics steaming into sainte devote, at the start of a long race.
If that's the case, you may have even considered biting the bullet and getting yourself a nice set of flight simulation hardware to start flying in the virtual world we so dearly love. Likely, this was also the point where you realized there is a slight issue...

Assuming you're taking the immersive approach to flight sim and want to enjoy flying with a yoke, combining your new flying hardware with your racing hardware is difficult, to say the least. Having both your direct drive and yoke(shaft) on the same rig is practically a no-no, meaning you will spend quite a bit of time and energy switching out your hardware. This generally means that you don't even start flying and just load up another racing session, pretty much rendering your flight sim hardware useless. Which I honestly believe is a shame.

At the start of 2023, I set out on a mission to resolve this issue. I want to bring back the value of simulation gaming and break through any barrier of entry holding you and me back. All the research, development, and testing led to the concept of IKARUS. Imagine not having to spend 15 minutes refitting your hardware and another 15 minutes setting up your software. Just unlock the yoke shaft in a few seconds, boot up your favorite flying sim, and take off. IKARUS enables you to do just that. Without any compromise in things like travel, rigidity, and functionality, you could double the experience value of your racing simulator.
